Onute's musical accomplishments were recognized with an award from the President of Lithuania in 2015, acknowledging her contributions to the field both domestically and internationally.
Creating a website for someone you know personally is always great fun. If you know the person, you have a better sense of what kind of design they might like. I played in the orchestra while Onute performed as a soloist on a few occasions, and we were also on a chamber music tour. So working on this website was a pleasure.
Onute previously had a website created with Wix. Like many musicians, choosing the Wix platform is easy - there are lots of templates, it's well advertised and relatively easy to use. However, it's when you try to add functionality (such as a dynamic calendar) on top of the static pages (like bio, contact etc) that the problems start. Onute’s website was buggy, the events calendar widget overlapped other content, making it impossible to read the bio or navigate the site.
So I approached Onute and said we could redesign her website. And the project began.
The process is simple – the artist sends us their content and we do the rest. We create the visual design, organize the content, structure pages to display that content logically, and publish all the content on the site. After some revisions with the client, we publish the website on their chosen domain and take over the technical maintenance in the future to make sure everything works perfectly.
From start to finish, it only took a few days to create the website. Young musicians don’t yet have as much content as 200 CDs to upload or two decades worth of concerts info. So customizing the design for a few pages we created was quick and easy.
Another small challenge in creating musician website design is that often there aren’t many different photos.
Just a little tip at this point - do a professional photo shoot and always save the photos from your concerts that have been professionally photographed - nice pictures are always a great help when creating a website!
Even with a few pictures we have created a beautiful and engaging design for a pianists' website.
As a bonus, we have added a download page - a single link that you can send to promoters, agents and concert organizers.
I always recommend making your website the single source for all your communications - resume, repertoire, event list, photos, etc. If you make it a habit to update everything on the website and not store it on Wetransfer, Google Drive or Dropbox, you will ensure that the public always gets the latest information about you. So the next time you provide your resume to the festival, provide a link to your website, not a PDF.
We have also set up a discography page with the CD, information about it and links to all the major streaming platforms. The page is dynamic and future CDs can easily be added there.
As a result, we have a beautiful, functional and highly automated website that takes no time to manage and is a wonderful representation of a young artist. This project reaffirmed the importance of creating a website that’s not just beautiful but also serves as a practical tool for musicians. By centralizing all essential resources and ensuring everything is automated and easy to update, we’ve created a platform that will grow with Onute's career.
If you’re a musician wondering whether you need a website, the answer is yes. A website is your digital stage, your professional business card, and your tool for communication. It doesn’t need to be massive—even a simple, well-designed website with a bio, events page, media gallery, and contact form can go a long way. And if you’re ready to make that leap, we’re here to make the process easy, efficient, and tailored to your needs.
